DUPONT CIRCLE is about to get greener.
On Tuesday, New York City-based Chop’t Creative Salad Co. plans to open its second D.C. location, which will sit just steps from the circle and the tens of thousands of office workers who toil the Golden Triangle. And like the opening day at its Gallery Place location late last year, salads will be on the house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. — or until the last bit of lettuce is gone. (Fine print: limit one per customer.)
Chop’t offers more than 60 ingredients to choose from — like snow peas, cucumber, fresh Granny Smith apples and white cheddar cheese — in addition to 26 homemade salad dressings. Customers can mix and match their “choppings” or, for the more indecisive, choose a signature chef-designed salad like Palm Beach Shrimp. Each is served with homemade grilled flatbread, and salads can be turned into wrapped sandwiches upon request. Boylan vintage fountain soda pop is also on the menu to wash it all down.
After Tuesday’s giveaway, salads at Chop’t will be priced $5.99 to $10.99. Enjoy them while they’re free.
